Things to do in Chincoteague:
Start with the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge
and the Assateague Island National Seashore.
They are the main attractions.
The Assateague Alliance is a local conservation group.
In town, check out local merchants, the Chincoteague Library .
The Chincoteague Cultural Alliance has many things going on.
The NASA visitors center at Wallops island will interest both kids and adults on a rainy day.
Our kids always want to stop at the Island Creamery
We buy lots of seafood from Gary Howard's Seafood. It's on Deep Hole Road on the way to our house. Easy. Good. They will cook crabs and shrimp to order; and they have a great selection of other seafood. You will also see Gary going by in his boat several times a day. He tells me he is working with the Virginia Fisheries folks to develop new ways of cultivating oysters. Ask him about it.
The Sea Star Café
(Maddox Blvd.. 757 336 5442)
has fabulous sandwiches for a picnic at the beach, but no web site. Stop by and pick up their menu if you don't find one in our house. They get busy, so call ahead!
If you know of other places we should list here, please let us know.. fill out our inquiry form and tell us!
